Yangshuo:
Pity the tourist who comes to China and spends their entire vacation touring the urban attractions in Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai. Compelling as those cities are, you haven't seen China until you've done some serious rural exploring. To many savant travelers, that means at least a day or two sampling Yangshuo.

And no wonder. Yahgshou - both the town and its surrounds - is beautiful. An old Chinese saying boasts, "Guilin's scenery is the finest in the world, and Yangshuo's is far prettier than Guilin's!" What adds to Yangshuo's advantage is its easy accessibility to those rural scenes. Choose your mode: tour bus, tour boat, bike, kayak or on foot - all bring you quickly upon some of the most magical scenery you'll ever visit.

Of particular interest for the Yangshou visitor is "Night Fishing." As darkness arrives, local fishermen head out to the shallow waters with lanterns above their crafts to attract fish. Specially trained commorants, attached to "leashes," swim alongside, diving down to snare their prey. Once the catch is made, the fisherman hauls in the bird and removes the fish from its beak. Your Tour Escort can arrange a viewing-trip for you!
